Ecostrat Case Study - Astra Zeneca, Pharmaceutical Manufacturer
The Challenge: The client had a new specialist warehouse built which provided for fully automatic storage and the picking of their products. It was critical that temperatures throughout the space be maintained with no more than 2°C difference. The building was very high, but also extremely narrow, and the only way of introducing heating to the space was via a roof-mounted warm air system. With racking extending to full height within the space, there was no chance of dropping distribution ductwork to low level.
The Solution: Nuaire provided an Ecostrat design never previously used, incorporating Ecostrat fans positioned at one end of the space, and mounted one above the other. The fans projected air towards the roof of the building, between the racking, for the entire length of the space.
No additional ductwork had to be used and the fans occupied the only free wall space available.
The Outcome: The critical nature of storing goods in an even temperature environment necessitated the use of sensitive temperature monitoring equipment to observe the temperature profile 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
Temperature gradients were maintained to within less than 2°C throughout the entire area, and the very delicate pharmaceutical goods could be stored anywhere within the dense racking.
